Project for Street Children

The organization runs our own school located in the needier neighborhoods of Jaipur. The project is titled “Street Children Education” as the children who attend the school are from the streets. These children are able to receive a free education, materials, and uniforms by attending the school daily. Along with a local Indian teacher, volunteers are able to teach the children basic educational skills such as English, math, reading, and writing; while also offering a structure based day involving etiquette norms and life skills. In between educational lessons, the volunteers can enjoy playing outdoor sports and games with the children, encouraging their physical development. Street children students range in all ages and educational levels; volunteers will be provided materials and orientation based on their assigned class.

The activities you’ll be doing

# Teaching Basic English & Mathematics, Colour & Shapes, animal and Sounds. # Give them advice on getting dressed and Manners # Creativity exercises like drawing, painting, music and dance etc. # Ensure regular attendance of children by motivating their families/parents. # Developing motoric skills of the children by making them use body parts through playing games.

A day in the life of a volunteer

On working days, volunteers usually get up and have breakfast before leaving for their Volunteer Placements. Our staff will provide transportation to and from your Volunteer Placement if required. You will probably spend about four hours at your Volunteer Placement. Evenings will be filled with opportunities to learn about the local culture and customs, field trips to places of local interest, discussions with experts on local issues and others. Evening meal-times provide another exciting chance to enjoy authentic food provided by host family/our staff cooks. The food is delicious and healthy and takes full advantage of local cooking traditions.
